TechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReedsThe recent cold front that moved through leech lake area produced some tough fishing. While some times of day were better than others, I found good fish playing the high risk high reward game of fishing finesse right near areas of heavy cover. The key was to bring the boat to the fish after hooking it, as otherwise they would take you into the cover where you heavily run the risk of breaking your light tackle.

TechniqueGrass JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReeds(6/25/2022) last practice day Running some of my spots to make sure fish are still there and they scattered from reeds to different reed patches you just have to put in the time to find them it was windy and rough fishing but you can do it offshore, make sure to focus these offshore reed patches that have other vegetation mixed in them that seemed to hold the biggest bass. FYI for (6/26/2022) it was blowing 20-25 mph winds and my boat and trolling motor couldn’t handle the wind so we had tap out.

TechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReeds(6/23/2022 water temp low 70s) Practice day on leech went well the clouds and wind picked up so I went to more moving presentations like swim jigs and big swimmers but the swim jigs are what got it done. I was focusing offshore scattered reed patches 1-5 feet and catching 1-2 fish every other patch but they were all 3 pound plus fish

TechniqueGrass JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReeds(6/22/2022 water temp low 70s) Flipping tons of rice beds and covering water quick but precise with a little heavier weight then you need forced a lot of reaction bites. First time up here and I’m nothing a ton of craw fish around these rice beds. Fish in picture 3.88
