There was still Ice in part of the lake but the current was breaking it up enough to fish. Was catching smallmouth on rock in water from 37-40 degrees from being warmed by the sun. Still very cold and the fish were lazy and you had to work a ned rig extremely slow to get bites. The Molix tail spinner got a few bites but was also working that very slow. Water was very clear and the two best ned rig colors were mudbug and "the dream."

The bays are still iced up, but the main river channel is open. The water is extremely clear right now, stick to natural colors until the water muddies up. With the recent warming weather smallmouth should become more active and found on the steep drops near the river channel. Start deep and move shallow until you find a active school.
