The water is extremely clear right now, stick to natural colors until the water muddies up. With the recent warming weather smallmouth should become more active and found on the steep drops near the river channel. Start deep and move shallow until you find a active school.

Was catching smallmouth on rock in water from 37-40 degrees from being warmed by the sun. Still very cold and the fish were lazy and you had to work a ned rig extremely slow to get bites. The Molix tail spinner got a few bites but was also working that very slow. Water was very clear and the two best ned rig colors were mudbug and "the dream."

Fished out from the shoreline bank to the first weed line. Focused on shaded areas with the cleanest water. Also caught largemouth swimming a Crush City Cleanup Craw in similar areas closer to the main lake channel. Using a St Croix Mojo Glass casting rod helped keeping fish pinned as they bit close to the boat.
