Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationI caught this big Largemouth Bass on a bluegill-colored swimbait. I cast my lure by a yellow raft near the bank and this girl smashed it. It fought very hard for its size. I had a blast catching it.

WalleyeTechniqueVertical Jigging Shallow (0-9')SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationI caught this small Walleye on a small jig head with a Berkley gulp minnow. I let my bait sink to the bottom and hopped it every so often. It fought very hard for its size on my ultralight. I had a blast catching it.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassWindy day out on the water led me to throw topwater around grass mats. Day temps still hot but nights are getting cooler, hopefully the topwater action starts heating up! Water temps were 73. Also caught some bass on 10” worm fishing them slowly along weed edges.

Largemouth BassTechniqueFootball JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationDragging heavy football jigs along and through deep weed edges in 10-15’. Black and blue baits for the night bite!

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationSummer patterns on little muskego leave me either deep cranking or dragging weedless Texas rigs near deep weeds. This trip out was the latter, fishing 10’-15’ of water near weed edges of wind blown drop offs. On windier days when the water is stirred up and murky I go with black/blue creature baits or worms, calm days or when the water is clearer I use green pumpkin or green pumpkin watermelon flake. Anytime I try and fish shallow during the dog days of summer I find myself catching smaller fish, so I stick to the deeper breaks and weed lines to target the better class of fish.

Northern PikeTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationCaught this small Northern Pike on a small swim bait with no wire leader. I was really lucky to land it. It fought very hard for its size. Had a blast catching it.
