Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLaydownsFishing was more difficult today with a cold front and strong winds out of the north. Fished a chatterbait around laydowns along the shoreline. Used an Ark Cobb Series 6'10" casting rod paired with a Pflueger President Baticastine reel with a 6-4 gear ratio. Also caught some on a Zoom Horny Toad over emergent vegetation.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationFish didn't seem to be set up in the usual summer spots yet. Best action was found in shallow weeds (3-5'). Saw a lot of crappie and bluegill on beds but didn't spend any time fishing for them. Best largemouth went 18.5" 3-1/2#. Had to earn em in the rain but had a decent day regardless. Ready for some consistent warm weather to get the fish set up in the summer pattern.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationGot out for a couple hours Saturday evening. Had some action on a frog over some growing, soon to be matted, weeds. Then swam a football jig with rage bug trailer along the outside edge of weed lines to good success. Water temp was 66.5-68 degrees. Caught 7 bass in 2 hours. Had 2 get off and had a few more miss the frog. Made the most of a short outing! Nothing big but all between 15-17”.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationEvery trip out this year has been a grind, fish still don't seem to be set up or stacked where I usually find them this time of year. Been picking off one here, one there doing a number of things. Most fish on this trip came on the Stunna, also caught one on a drop shot and the big fish of the day on the jig. Hoping to get some warm, consistent weather to really get the fish set up and feeding like we're used to.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonSummerStructureLily PadsMorning started overcast and a little drizzly, with the water up from all the recent rain decided to check out some shallow cover. Found some solid bass and pike up shallow. Once the sun came out and got towards late morning caught a few on a jig, but the morning buzz bite bait was good and a LOT of fun.

Largemouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationRough stuff today. Pretty cool air temps compared to what we were having during the week. Couldn't find any bass anywhere from 4pm-8pm. Caught many crappies whenever we saw schools of them on the graph. Once the sun went down, the bass bite picked up. Finished off pretty strong with many bass caught on chatter baits up shallow once it got dark. Night bite is on.

Yellow PerchTechniqueLive Bait RigsSeasonSummerStructureLily PadsWindy day to start, then calmed down mid morning. Yellow perch were hammering night crawlers near Lilly pads. Caught at least 15 in the 5-8” range. Had a massive largemouth hammer a wacky Senko, but got off before I could get him in the net.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationTook a vacation day and had a great day on the water. Best day of the season so far. Fish had seemed behind schedule and not on normal summer patterns yet in my experiences until yesterday. Found a number of fish on weedlines and they were aggressively thumping the magdraft and getting it good. Best day I've had throwing it. Found one mega school and it didn't matter if it was in a bluegill pattern or when they destroyed that switched to albino and they ate that too. Once the school cooled off on the swimbait and i had lost a couple i switched to the jerkbait and it was back on and i caught a few more. Nearly doubled up for my first time ever as one was trying to get the bait out of the mouth of one i had hooked. after they cooled off on the jerkbait i switched to a drop shot I had rigged up with the Zoom Super fluke and picked off the last couple. Fun day on the lake! Biggest on the day went 4.18 lbs
