TechniqueStructure JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLaydownsIn the morning I found bass in 4/6 foot of water in heavy cover throwing a jig and burning it back looking for reaction strikes. In the afternoon I found large schools of fish in the very back of coves around heavy cover where the water was 5+ degrees warmer. I was able to sight fish with a weightless rage menace grub to pull some out.

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLaydownsThe water temps are finally warming up and the bass are starting to move into the shallows. There are still some larger bass in the deep, submerged trees though. Dragging a 6.8 Keitech swimbait through the submerged trees in depths of 15 to 30 feet produced few bites but larger fish. The jerkbait was able to persuade some smaller bass in about 8 feet of water around trees. A wacky rig can produce bites from bass hanging tight to laydowns along the shore. Bass seem to be stacked on some logs. Water temps are much warmer in the very back of coves.
