Largemouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationWorking jerkbaits quickly over the submerged grass. Ticking the top of the grass and ripping it out, or working the jerkbait higher, both generated action. Once I found them I was able to repeat the bite pretty well! Met a nice guy out there who was also whacking them. Cheers Steve!

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThe bite on Marion is slow. Find healthy vegetation and fish it slowly. Pike are everywhere, try not to be discouraged by how slow the bass fishing is right now.

Northern PikeTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationVery windy day...but, little did I realize, it was the Pan-O-Prog Fishing Tournament from 6am - 1pm; so getting there to fish for LMBs at 10/11am probably wasn't not my best decision... I didn't have much luck with crankbaits (10-15'), so I switched out to running some chatterbaits / jackhammers that mostly perked the interest of several pikes within the submerged vegetation about 5' - 10' deep. The entire area by the bridge is very shallow now and/or full of weeds. It may be worth a try, but most of it is submerged vegetation. The banks along the north side of the lake has some nice cat tails and lilypads to work along, but it is very shallow over there (1', maybe 2'?) and the area surrounded it is about 3' - 4' with submerged vegetation up to the surface. Well, there's always next weekend to give it another try! Good luck!

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocks19" largemouth. I watched it chase bluegill up to the shoreline, two casts later I hooked her. I had another of similar size that threw the hook just as I was lifting her into the boat.

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksThe summer dock bite can be very good. Look for the docks with deeper water adjacent to them and ones that provide the most shade. Take a wacky rig or jig and skip it as far back as you can get it. The harder it is to get to the spot the better as those fish haven't seen as many baits. They will typically hit it on the fall or shortly after you begin your retrieve. This can be a fun way to fish shallow when the bite is on.
