Largemouth BassTechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureLily PadsSlipping back into to some skinny areas with the yak and working a frog over mats.
- Species
Largemouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructurePointsThe bass have been staging on the main lake and secondary points. Look for areas with scattered rock piles/openings in the submerged vegetation in less than 6 FOW. Minnow profile baits have been working best on the drop shot.
- Species
Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationCould not get bites on chatterbaits or frogs. Thankfully fish did bite Keitechs. Water seemed too warm for this early in the season (did we miss the spawn?) Fish were shallow, scattered and generally disinterested. Lots of pike.
- Species
Largemouth BassTechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLily PadsBurning in fast from the weed line with spinners into lily pads was a fast way to get the aggressive pre-spawn bass into the boat. It was still a fire bite, and extremely entertaining to watch the bass track down this spinner and hammer it.
Species
Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationRunning over and into submerged vegetation was the ticket to win it today with white/chart chatterbaits with trailers. Gary Yamamoto zako swimbaits were a great hitter as well as Zoom 5" flukes, match the forage, or go high visibility.

Largemouth BassTechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLily PadsTargeting the weed line into the preemergent lily pads. pre-spawning bass were cruising for forage before the spawn and hit the crankbaits like a sledgehammer!

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureReedsLots of fish cruising looking to spawn and others on beds. Stealth was very important. Wacky worms presented as quietly as possible from as far away as possible did the trick.
Species
Northern PikeTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationTough day wind-wise (13mph, 25 mph gusts). However, pikes were lively! Bluegills were schooling in the shallows and many pikes were stalking about 10-50 ft out in the weed lines from shore. Tried a few things (T-Rig, Spinnerbait, etc.), but the one thing that they seemed to be feeling today were bladed jigs/chatterbaits! Water was a bit dirty from the current, but Black/Blue was not hitting today. We had the best success with the Thunder Cricket in Green Pumpkin followed by the Jackhammers with a touch of white in the skirt. All in all, we ended up with over a dozen pikes between my partner and I.
