TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureStanding TimberFishing was inconsistent, but when it was hot it was hot. With full sun and 9000cfs water over the St Cloud dam, most of the bass were hiding in the shade and around structure. Fallen trees produced. Most in our group had little luck with topwater. I love the weight and pitch-ability of the Yamamoto 6" stick, in green.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureRip RapThe water was high and the current was very strong. It made for a very tough day on the kayak. Was able to find some nice smallies in the usual spots, current breaks, current seams and narrow areas that water flowed through. If one was caught, there was usually another.

TechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSummerStructureLedgesThe fish were difficult to locate, had to use the graphs. The big ones were main channel on those deeper water 2-3 foot depth drops with rock. Walleyes were incredibly shallow, on 2 foot sand humps. The northern bite was strong. It’s like the fish were backwards from the normal spots I get them.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationI had minimal luck using tube, whopper, and wacky. My buddy used the recommended topwater popper and had a lot of bites. The smallmouth were everywhere, especially under/around the weeds along the shore.
