Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructureRip RapI floated, fished and camped on the St. Croix River last weekend south of Taylor's Falls. The topwater bite was pretty good along the shorelines for Smallmouth, Pike and even a surprise Channel Cat that ate right next to the boat. The water level is lower than usual and was around 74 degrees during the day. The best bite seemed to come in the morning or along any shaded sections once the sun got up high.
