Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureFlooded BrushFished Pomme de Terre on Thursday with the lake 11 feet high. That meant a full-on flipping pattern. I focused on flipping a D Bomb Texas rig and a Motion Fishing Tungsten Tank Jig. Fish were holding from the outer bushes all the way back to the bank. Fall rate mattered: lighter weights got fewer bites, but when I switched to a 5/8 oz jig and a 1/2 oz weight on the D Bomb, the bites picked up. Biggest fish went about 3 pounds—no giants, but consistent. I tried deeper water, but no luck, so for the tournament, I’ll be sticking to the bushes. Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureStumpsFished the Joe Bass Team Trail tournament. Had a very good of fishing, just could not get a big bite. Caught 20 plus fish, at least 10 keepers. Pomme is a 13" lake. Ended up with 5 at 7.6 lbs. Concentrated on shade. Most came on the Z-craw, a few on a jig. Concentrated in the dirty water in the river.

Largemouth BassTechniqueShakey HeadsSeasonSummerStructureBaitfishPlenty of bass to be caught on the bluff walls and main lake points. Target these areas with shakey heads and crankbaits to catch these fish. There are also fish in the middle of the creek arms to be caught chasing balls of bait. In the early morning and evening catch these fish with topwater walking baits.

White BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructureBaitfishIt has begun, the annual summer shad slam fest at Pomme, find any extended flat area next to deep water, watch for gulls peck at surface or idle over areas looking for bait balls, once sundown happens wait for boils to happen at the water surface and pull any walking type lure through and you can catch as many white bass as you want. It’s a blast. They liked chrome and black. Was using cane walkers and spooks.

CrappieTechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesTough fishing.. super still most of the morning.. finally a little wind in the Afternoon along with boat waves. Brush piles always hold crappie in this lake. A variety of jigs, including maribou did the trick. Not very big.

Largemouth BassTechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSummerStructureBouldersFished a night tournament from 7pm to 1am. Fishing was tough due to very little moonlight and the hot temperatures. Managed to catch a limit. The majority of fish were caught shallow in the last hour before dark on a square bull crank bait in less than 3 foot of water. Fish were up chasing small shad in the shallows. Also caught a couple fish flipping a brush hog off secondary points into balls of shad that were being pushed to the surface. After dark, fish were caught slow rolling a wobble head with a creature bait on chunk rock banks.
