TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureLedgesFishing bluff walls with sharp drop offs at the mouths of creeks. Fish are starting to get out of the true summer bluffs and moving towards the mouths of creeks. Dragging a football jig on the drop offs will catch them when they’re moved up in 13-25ft. If they move out and suspend, throw a drop shot and a spoon over the schools

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesI was able to get on a couple different patterns. I started the morning off covering water with topwater, chatterbait, and squarebill. I was catching good numbers of small ones on the bank but no size. So I moved out due to the water falling over the last week (0.75 ft) thinking maybe they had slid out to 4-10 foot. I started catching some small keepers skipping docks but not the size I was needing to win. Next I moved out to isolated brush piles in 8-12” and caught a 5.08 with the Texas rig. I didn’t have enough piles marked to run this pattern all day but kept looking for more near docks due to the sun coming out. I never got another good one in the boat but I think if you have piles found in that depth range and would run them all day you could put a quality bag together. Also think topwater bite will get good soon…….just need water to stabilize and have some more cool nights for it to get going. If you just want bites I would throw a squarebill and cover water. I probably caught 10 fish in the first 30-45 min but the biggest was 12”.

TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSummerStructureBouldersFished a night tournament from 7pm to 1am. Fishing was tough due to very little moonlight and the hot temperatures. Managed to catch a limit. The majority of fish were caught shallow in the last hour before dark on a square bull crank bait in less than 3 foot of water. Fish were up chasing small shad in the shallows. Also caught a couple fish flipping a brush hog off secondary points into balls of shad that were being pushed to the surface. After dark, fish were caught slow rolling a wobble head with a creature bait on chunk rock banks.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesTough fishing.. super still most of the morning.. finally a little wind in the Afternoon along with boat waves. Brush piles always hold crappie in this lake. A variety of jigs, including maribou did the trick. Not very big.

TechniqueCrappie Sniping (Casting/Single Poling)SeasonFallStructureRip RapFishing the shore by Nemo Campground. Electric chicken shad on a 1/16oz jig head produced well. Fish seemed to prefer a bronze hook over red. Cast and count to 15, then reel slowly and let the bait go over the top of the rocks. Best bite was 4-5PM
