TechniqueCarolina RigsSeasonFallStructureRip RapSpent about two hours down at the river today, and dragging was the deal. Caught four fish total, all dragging either a carolina rig or ned rig. Low and slow was the key today, all bites on the carolina rig came either during a pause in between drags or on the fall. Good luck!

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureRip RapTook a day trip to the river in mid-august to try and find some smallmouth. With the water being low bank access was much easier. The drop shot and shakey head were the ticket. With the water down and slow current fish seemed to be scattered. We caught them up and down the bank and fish seemed to be holding in the main river tight to the bottom. Dragging a shakey head or shaking a drop-shot caught small numbers, with the occasional 2-2.5 lber. Moral of the story is, don't overlook Minneapolis' urban fisheries!

TechniqueNed RigsSeasonFallStructureRock PileQuick half hour fishing rock piles and creek points, on and off rain, mixed cloud cover but still a few hungry ones. Ignored jerk baits and tubes, success as always with weedless Ned rig and tonight zoom finesse was the ticket.

TechniqueTubesSeasonSummerStructureRip RapFishing the river this weekend was tough, smallmouth were not reacting to moving baits like they have been which forced me to slow down. Once I switched over to a free rig, bites became much more frequent. On the retrieve, I slowly dragged the free rig allowing the weight to fully contact the bottom. The current and small hops with the rod gave the tube plenty of natural action. Good Luck!!

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSummerStructureFlooded BrushThe SK ned rage craw offers great action on lighter-weight jigs really slowing down the fall rate to instigate some big bites.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSummerStructureFlooded BrushThe structure was bridge pilings. Find the flooded brush that's sunk near the bottoms and let the jig soak down there. The water is pretty stained so the black and blue shows up really well and the twin brush guards on the V2 are PERFECT to help keep the jig from getting hung up on all the river junk and timber.
