Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWith the water being so high, I flipped most of the day around submerged trees and in the lilypads. We fished deep in the trees, about 3 ft of water where it normally would be land. Very humid, overcast day with rain in the afternoon, water temps around 70.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonSummerStructureLaydownsI was fishing a rock ledge with a lot of laydown. I Caught a lot of fish on the whopper plopper 110 size. I also broke out the squarebill crankbait and boated a few with that as well.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueTubesSeasonSummerStructureRip RapBoat was in 12-15' of water. We mainly hit rip rap banks, some with wood. The most quality came from the areas were the rocks came out farther into the water. Slow fishing a stupid tube by far produced the best quality, a jig and wacky did get some to. We did lighten up the heads to 1/8oz as the current slowed. When the current was gone the fish seemed to also be gone. Points were not great but fish were there.

Largemouth BassTechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonFallStructureLaydownsLargemouth are starting to get on hard cover. Wood seemed preferred. Bumping off stumps/lay downs or jerk baiting the edges.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureStanding TimberLargemouth are also moving up and starting to find areas to bed, unfortunately the water is very stained in a lot of areas so it’s hard to see the beds. A good way to find them or to find staging areas for us was throwing a zman jackhammer with a white frizz and a square bill around flooded timber or current seams on the outside of spawning ares

Smallmouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureStanding TimberBass were spawning at the base of the flooded trees. It wasn't easy to find the right trees but when you did there would be several bass spawning in the area. The beds were not visible so sometimes repeated casts were needed to the trees that looked the best. This pattern led us to a 6th place finish out of 79 on the Minnesota Bass Nation Team Trail event out of Winona last weekend.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureFlooded BrushMN team trail stop #1 We fished spawners in flooded islands near current with deeper water near by and also fished the bank in secondary channels focusing on Eddy's and laydowns. Anything that would slow down the current.
