Dragging a carolina rig over isolated rock piles, wing dams, and sand drops produced large numbers of fish over the weekend. Target structure close to the main river channel for smallmouth. The fish are schooled up. So, when you find one, you will find more in the same area. Make sure to not go TOO heavy on your weight. You want to have just enough weight to keep bottom contact. Also keep your leader SHORT. 8-10" is all you need.

Water is still very low and muddy. Water temps were in the low to mid 70's. Smallmouth were about the only thing biting around the Lansing bridge area. Largemouth were found randomly but the smallmouth were on rock piles and laydowns along the channel and secondary channels. Lots of really small are biting but the occasional 15" smallie can be found. Throw a neg rig shallow and drag it along the rocks. A Texas rig along the rocks and in laydowns will also produce if there is current. The bass are chasing baitfish so a fluke will also work.
