I find that the 6mm crossover rings hold the 5” Yum Dingers better then the 7mm rings that I use when I am throwing Yamamotos.

Moved out to sparse grass bay and threw the cut r worm past chunks of grass. Reeling the worm about as slow as I could. Caught a couple of shorts on a dropshot too but nothing culled.
SpeciesLargemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFished a club tournament on the Lower Potomac River and caught numerous largemouth bass on a combination of lightly weighted 4" Yamamoto Senkos in Fire Craw and Berkley 7" Power Worms in Blue Fleck. Bass were positioned next to scattered clumps of grass, specifically eel grass and milfoil. The bite was aggressive for the first 45 minutes as the tide was going out. The bite slowed significantly once the tide stopped moving out and during slack tide. The bite slowly picked up again as the tide began rolling in and continued until the tide went slack again in the early afternoon. I was fortunate enough to get a sample/test pack of Mustad Alpha Point Alpha-Grip Finesse Hooks from Omnia a month ago, and they have become my go-to hook. Don't let the "Finesse" tag scare you - these hooks are super sharp and super strong!

Launching out of Smallwood State Park one doesn't have to idle far to start slinging a hollow body frog/popping frog. Largemouth fishing is tough with very few bite throughout the day, if you're fishing a derby every bite must count. Be prepared to hook into the infamous Northern Snakehead while twitching a frog early & late in the day. Break out the heavy rods & at least 50 lb braided line to muscle those bites out of the endless aquatic vegetation in every creek I've been in this week up & down the Potomac River above the salt line above the 301 bridge. Its hot & very humid on the river so keep plenty of water handy to stay hydrated. Tight lines!!

Its literally the easiest fishing that can be done, anything easier would be purchasing fish from a local market. I highly recommend introducing kids to fish via the White Perch on the Potomac River. Casting a Mepps Aglia 1/4 oz in silver around rock piles can produce several species of fish, perch, Virginia spots, & stripers have been landed on multiple trips day after day. Points with rock piles or isolated rock piles is the best starting point to begin putting a hundred plus fish in the boat every day. Tight lines!!!!
