TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationWater has cooled considerably and the grass is starting to die. Fished from the mouth of Belmont Bay to Occoquan Regional park. Started with spinnerbait/chatterbait in the submerged grass and a frog in the floating mats. Also threw a buzz bait around the mats. Got a few swirls on the frog, but no serious hits. Only bites came on slow swim worm and shake head. Previous night was near full moon with clear skies. Fishing weather was low 70 degree air temp, bluebird skies. Bites were few and far between. Bait seems to be pushing well back into the Occoquan river.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationTop water bite was on at the Potomac. I was working a Rapala Skitter Walk because I like the size and action better then a spook. We were fishing grass flats in 3’-5’ of water. Guy I was fishing with was throwing a pop-r and he caught them too, but they definitely preferred the walking bait that morning. I caught a few on the black Canterbury buzz toad as well, but there is something about “walking the dog” that is just more fun when you get that blow up.
