Smallmouth BassTechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsTossing a mix of flashy swimmer keitechs, spinner baits, and a teckel qlinker tight against laydowns and banks with fast drops. Fish had a tough time getting the teckel in their mouth and would not comeback for another shot at it or any follow up baits. Lots of dinks on the flashy swimmer but it did get big fish of the day at 4.60lbs.

Fish were holding tight to cover on lay downs . Ned rig worked well to pitch up near them to get bites. The biggest fish came when the lay downs were met with rocky or rip rap shoreline. If you manage to not get hung up in the lay down there will be fish there.

"Threw topwater in slower moving current in shallow water against the bank going into a boulder ended up catching 2 in that same spot."

water level was low and so were the number of smallies that were caught. This one was the best one caught going 2.5 pounds.

Fishing the Rum River with whopper plopper. I look for shaded area along with cut off current. That seems to be where most of the fish are stacked at. For this one, I threw it to a shaded area and the fish came up as my plopper landed. It was a nice 4lbs Smallies.

Water is very low but has made the water in the rum very clear. Not much current but fish are sitting near current breaks and on boulders.

Smallmouth are targeting crawfish and bluegill. Football head jigs and shallow crankbaits have worked well especially on rocks and boulders.
