Largemouth BassTechniqueStructure JigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksFished this lake on June 23rd, it was 85 degrees and sunny with the water temp at 76 degrees. We started out flipping out bull rushes as we had success the previous week doing so. After 45 minutes with zero hits we decided to go fish some docks. I was skipping a 1/2 ounce Stealth Feider jig as the docks had some vegetation on them. I started to pull fish from under boat docks and the tires of the docks in the water. Fish were up as shallow as a foot of water. My buddy was skipping a beaver with no success, he changed over to a feider jig as well and began catching fish. Key was to skip the boat docks from the side as we did not get hardly any hits from skipping docks straight on.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLily Pads5/26/2022 water temp 64-66. Fish we’re shallow 1-3’ relating to hard cover there was a mix of pre spawn fish that had just pulled up spawners and post spawn fish. Found a few fish around docks in a small shallow cove adjacent to the main lake, however then most productive bite was in the sporadic lily pads that were beginning to emerge targeting the large heavy roots. By far the most effective technique for me was slow rolling a 6th sense bluegill color swim jig with a 3.8” kitech fat impact swing in bluegill flash.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThe Whopper Plopper size 90 in bone color was a killer bait for pike and bass on East Rush Lake. I fished the far south end of the lake. It’s shallow and has lots of submerged weeds where the bass and pike like to hide. I could see areas between the taller weeds that created openings to pull the top water bait through without hooking weeds on a retrieve. This part of the lake only gets to about 4 feet deep. On this day, the winds stayed low for about 3 hours and thrill of blow ups and catching fish was irresistible. I caught lots of bass, the biggest being the 20” toad shown in the pic. WOOHOO! :)

Largemouth BassTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureMatted GrassTook 5th in the greenhorn Sunday league derby out on east/west rush. Fishing up in the slop throwing buzz toads, swimjigs and chatterbaits. Bite was tough to come by, they really only but from 6-10 am and then the rest of the day was really slow. Top water bite died around 8 am. Popping the swimjig and chatterbait every 2-3 turns of the reel was what triggered most of the bites. Fished were caught in 1-6 feet of water.

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksI started the day throwing top water only limited success so I transitioned to dock fishing and the slow fall of a wacky rigged senko was money! The fish were holding only on the front of the docks and only if they weed free, docks with weeds under them did not hold fish that day.
