Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThe Whopper Plopper size 90 in bone color was a killer bait for pike and bass on East Rush Lake. I fished the far south end of the lake. It’s shallow and has lots of submerged weeds where the bass and pike like to hide. I could see areas between the taller weeds that created openings to pull the top water bait through without hooking weeds on a retrieve. This part of the lake only gets to about 4 feet deep. On this day, the winds stayed low for about 3 hours and thrill of blow ups and catching fish was irresistible. I caught lots of bass, the biggest being the 20” toad shown in the pic. WOOHOO! :)

Very stained lake. Plenty of weeds, points, humps in the middle. So many good looking spots and so little time. Managed a few bass and lost a good size maybe 5 to 6 pound pike next to the kayak.

Fished in the MNKFA old town bass tourney today; I was fishing over a hump in 6’ water dropping to 10’ all around it. I lost a chatter bait to a northern so followed up with a berkley pit boss Texas rigged pegged slow bouncing the bottom when a 5.5#er hit!

Fish were holding tight to isolated weed clumps as well as inside turns of lily pads!

Best success has been on west rush near the large grass flat that is surrounded by bouys. Flip the edges of the weed line in about 8-12 ft of water with a Tokyo Rig paired with a Kraw or Creature bait

Tough derby, tied for big bass throwing a wacky senko under docks. Likely hooked into muskie on the chicken jig on a hump, sliced through 30 lb braid like nothing before even setting the hook.

Outing is for July 10th, 2024. Weather was calm, warm and humid, high about 83. Isolated rain, but none on the lake this evening. Water was pretty green with minimal visibility of less than a foot. Frog bite was on early on and caught 3 bass in the first 20 minutes. Overall, we only caught 5 fish in this evening tournament, and I think we came in 6th. All on a frog except one on a Yamamoto Hula Grub. Fished shallow all night on East Lake.
