TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassLate summer, hot, partly cloudy days are the key to success for froggin on Schmitt. I have often found a pattern within a pattern out there with casting at wood in matted grass. When you find a matted grass shoreline, look for laydowns in the matted grass. The closer you get your frog to land by the wood, the better your chances of getting blown up. More often than not, your frog will get snacked on within 3 seconds of it landing before you even start your retrieve. I like the megabass big gabbot for this situation because of its ability to walk or pop or even "spit-walk" in the cover. wild gill produced the most bites, but any dark colored frog worked well too
