TechniqueLipless CrankbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationI was cycling through the guts of pockets and flats that had grass beginning to grow in them. I was also cycling through baits and caught a couple on a firecraw jackhammer. If there was grass growing in the pocket, I could catch at least a few fish. I was bottom hopping my LV-500, and the fish were smashing it. I caught many fish in the 2.5-3.5 pound range with one 5 pound kicker. The best spot I found was a grass flat with a gravel bar in the middle of it on the eastern side of the lake, this is where i caught my kicker and a large portion of my better quality fish.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureBrush PilesThe high water has pushed the fish into the flooded bushes. Went out for 5 hours and caught 17 keepers between the three of us in the boat. Mostly on frogs/buzzbaits and a jig or jackhammer in front of the bushes.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassFished a club event on 7/11. Fishing was tough for me generally target rocks and am able to catch fish but this day they just were not there. Shallow grass/bushes seemed to be the best bite for numbers based on club feedback. The winners caught them deeper on jigs in brush piles I believe. I caught my fish on a spro frog a square bill and 2 on a jackhammer.

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRip RapFished for a few hours Tuesday evening. Caught 2 and lost a big one all on the magdraft. Tried flipping a jig and throwing a glide bait but couldnt get any bites. The 3 bites I got were all main lake rock. I tried 2 different pockets with wood and just didnt get anything but most reports locally are saying they are catching them there.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRip RapFished a tournament on April 2 ended up catching 4 keepers for 10lbs and 2 shorts. The 4 keepers and 1 short were all on a Jewel finesse jig fishing riprap with laydowns on the main lake and just inside a pocket. Also caught 1 short on a 110 as well as lost one early. Ended up coming in 4th. First was 16lbs Second was a little over 11 Third was 10.03 and I was 4th with 10.01. Overall a decent day extremely windy which limited fishing areas.
