Smallmouth BassTechniqueFootball JigsSeasonWinterStructureDamFished these finesse football jigs at the various rock dams along several shorelines. Cast to rip rap along the dams and dragged the jigs slowly to deeper water. Bites were very light, give much credit to the very sensitive rod being used. I was using a Daiwa Steez Ags Medium spinning. Most fish were between 1 to 3 lbs.

Early morning smallmouths we’re on Dam Rip Rap. Later in the day was junk fishing a frog.

Reaction bites were to be had by skipping a black and blue fleck general under bushes and lay downs. But most of the bites came in 8-10 ft of water on slowly dragging a TRD. Rock with nearby grass was the name of the game.

Went on the hunt for bass that might be feeding up after the spawn. small perch were in the semi deep water 7 to 10 ft along the points. Bass were holding in the deeper water near them. The TRD in perch color was the perfect bait to throw. Most bass were from 2lbs to 2.5 lbs and a few that topped off at 4 +.. Z Man makes great baits
