TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructurePointsMy success with a frog was literally zero until I got this Toad Thumper! Walking it with the Cara Amistad along the outside edge of thick vegetation. Boom!

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureDocksHad a work conference in Florida this week and got to jump in the boat with Profisherman Captain Pete T. We put on at the Lake Palatka boat ramp on the St John’s River and had a ball flippin boat docks. I started off with a Crockogator Swamp Swimmer 8” black and blue rotating between swimming that and a jackhammer black n blue chatterbait. For an afternoon trip it was hot but with a lot current from the tide dropping it positioned the fish perfect on the docks. Good time! Biggest was just shy of 6lbs but we had several solid fish.

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureLily PadsFirst time on the St. John's and she did not disappoint! Caught a 9.37 lb. giant! Caught decent numbers. Our spot was a well trafficked location, so we had to do something different than everyone else to get our bites. When the water is running and the sun is high, can't go wrong with a wacky rig!

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructureLily PadsFishing mid basin we were able to get some good strikes on the top water spook and frogs. For schooling largemouth throw the spook jr in the middle of the frenzy and work it slowly through the school to pick up some quick catches. When the schools weren’t on, we switched to fishing pads and grass on the inside curves in the fingers and twists of the river with top water baits with some success.

TechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksUsed the Bio Spawn PlasmaTail 6.5" for the first time yesterday and had great success. All my bites came on the walkways of the docks. The key in yesterdays tournament was fishing slow. With the shrimp running like they are in the St. John's I believe that slowing down my presentation was the key to last nights success. Normally when one thinks of fishing docks it's about the law of averages. The more docks you fish, eventually you're to get bit. But yesterday I focused on two stretches of docks that I knew were holding some fish and ended up fishing seven docks in three hours of fishing. All my bites came in 6 in. to 2 feet of water. When the tide is incoming, don't be afraid to go as shallow as your boat will allow you and fish each pylon.

TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonFallStructureShadThis was the last regular season BFL for us, the super derb on St Johns River... The river during this late summer, early fall time can just be a very very tough time to be there. Anyone with experience here knows this means one, major hurdle... SHRIMP!!! The shrimp were EVERYWHERE! Now, this does a couple of things to the bass population. For one (a positive) is they are feeding! Like Crazy! BUT.... As we are all very well aware of when the bait is extremely plentiful, the bass can be super tough to make bite. They get so so keyed in that they are "tough to trick" We were fishing running the tide for half of the day and then chasing some fish on Lake George (Report for George posted separately) But we were using 2 baits to target the main river fish. First was the Berkley Stunna. Get around the fish schooling on shrimp and take FULL advantage of livescope. Its tough but it does work well. Secondly we would set up on these schooling locations after the fish quit schooling I would throw a Roboworm on 8 lb test dropshot... Caught a 6 on this setup on Day Uno. Thanks yall! Lake George report coming soon!!!
