Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksThe KVD perfect plastics Ocho especially in that black and blue color was like candy for the bass under the docks. Sun was out and the fish were hiding. No sooner than this hit the water BOOM! Big bites on the way down I'm not sure i even got to hit the bottom with it. This is Trout River An Estuary of The St Johns Here in Jacksonville Florida.

Largemouth BassTechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureLily PadsFished the St. Johns River the other day in some canals off of a small creek. Spent most of the afternoon throwing a Pro Bronzeye Poppin' Frog 60 on a Denali AttaX 7' 4" Heavy Fast Rod with a Quantum Smoke S3 8.1:1 gear ratio reel with K9 60 pd. "9" Strand Dyneema Super Braid. I also used a Untamed Tackle 3/8 oz. Punisher Swim Jig paired with a NetBait Paca Chunk on a Denali AttaX 7' 4" Heavy Fast Rod and a Quantum Smoke S3 8.1:1 gear ratio reel with K9 60 pd. "8" strand Dyneema Super Braid. Was able to cover a lot of water with these two setups. Caught the majority of my fish under or around docks where there was vegetation located near dock pillings, whether it was dollar pads or lillipads. When the tide was slack, I would skip a wacky rigged 5" black and blue Yamamoto Senko paired with a VMC #1 Weedless Neko Hook on a Denali Lithium Medium Heavy Fast action Spinning Rod with a Quantum Smoke S3 Spinning Reel with K9 25 pd. "9" Strand Dyneema Super Braid with a fluorocarbon leader of Sunline 10 pd. FC Sniper. Caught several bass on these three setups.

Largemouth BassTechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLily PadsStarted the morning fishing a small creek on the St. Johns River with a Spro Bronzeye Poppin Frog 60 on 60 pound Sunline X-Plasma Asegai paired with a Denali AttaX 7' 4" heavy power fast action rod with a Quantum Smoke S3 8.1:1 reel. Caught two fish early with the falling tide and glass like conditions and once the current stopped, I switched a more subtle presentation, a wacky rig. My setup was a #1 VMC Weedless Finesse Neko Hook paired with a Gary Yamamoto 5" Black and Blue Senko on 15 pound Sunline X-Plasma Asegai Braid with a 10 pound Sunline FC Sniper leader on a Denali Lithium medium heavy power moderate fast action rod with a Quantum Smoke S3 6.1:1 gear ratio spinning reel. Caught the majority of my fish on the wacky rig when the tide was low and the current was lacking. Most of the fish I caught were caught near matts of dollar pad and lilipads located near docks.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLily PadsThere were a couple patterns at the St. John's River but the predominant pattern in the Lilipads was flipping a stick bait at spawning fish. Because there's no grass in Lake George anymore Lilipads have turned into the dominant form of vegetation.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureRiver ChannelsWith the consistent weather recently, the big females are pushing into the canals. Spent the day flipping a texas rigged Missile Baits D Bomb. Key is to slow down and anticipate where you think the fish are bedded because often times I couldn't see the fish. I would flip to where I thought the fish were bedded. Another key, use a smaller weight than you normally would to create less of a disturbance in the water.
