There is a lot of hard rocky bottom on Stillhouse Hollow to grind a crankbait over. The odds of getting a bite are greatly increased when the crankbait makes contact with the bottom. I typically throw this bait on 15LB or 17LB fluorocarbon line. The Helsinki Shad is a great color for Stillhouse. Check out the video to see the Rapala DT catch some keepers.

The Ned rig catches them on Stillhouse Hollow when its tough to get a bite. A 1/10 oz ZMan jig head with a TRD Tickler is a good combo on a spinning rod. The bass mostly eat this bait while it is slowly sinking to the bottom. Stroke the ned off the bottom and they will eat it on the fall. 8LB fluorocarbon line or 10LB braid to 8LB fluorocarbon leader work well with this bait. Check out the video of the Ned jig in action.

I started out throwing a frog sound and on grass mats. Bites were few and far between for me today. They are eating the frog though, just not many for me today. I switched over to my spook and started catching them. I was throwing around standing timber from the bank to about 10’ of water. The grass edges end in about 15 to 20 feet of water. Biggest and most came on a spook.

It's been hot and the bite is slow. We caught five or six fish in the morning up until 11:30. Then the bite quit and it was getting hot.

Fish are chasing Shad in several parts of the lake. It seems all about timing for me. My timing hasn’t been great. I’ve been throwing a texas rigged baby brush hog for better results. Isolated brush piles have been best for me. I caught several keepers and one goodun! I was mainly using a Irod fishing rod with an Abu Garcia revo STX spoiled with 16# Shimano Mastiff fluorocarbon line.cast very well and handled an abrasion test for sure. Sorry it’s been so long with a report but I’m just getting back able to fish because of 2 rotator cuff surgeries.
