TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLily PadsWater temp was 67 when we hit it, but about 71 when we got off the water. Little to no breeze as we fished. Very sunny and VERY clear water. Solid 6-7' visibility. Frogs were the winner of the day, caught several decent bass hitting the back pockets of pads as the bass swirled. Began throwing a BFS Popper (Damiki Umpa) at the popping bluegills and had a blast pulling in Bluegills as well as bass regularly. As the top water fizzled out, switched to a wacky rig and started targeting the grass lines and pulled in several more keepers.

TechniqueLipless CrankbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLedgesWind out of the southwest about 11-15mph, temp right in the mid 60's and water temp right around 48. Spent a while getting the boat operating and only had a bit of time on the water before we got chased off by a storm. Caught one good bass in 7' of water on a lipless bouncing through dead grass at the bottom. Didn't find many schooling fish or bait balls while we were out and it didn't seem like they were setting up for spawn just yet. Daughter caught a pike with a Jerkbait as well.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueLipless CrankbaitsSeasonFallStructureLily PadsWater temp around 75, lots of fish busting on surface but couldn't get on a top water bite. Tried a ploppers, poppers, walking baits, and frogs, just didn't seem interested. Switched to some lipless cranks and started catching them right off the edges of the lily pads and drop offs. Pretty much cranking them in as fast as we could turn the handles. Did a bit of sight fishing in the shallows and caught them with a wacky worm, but the bait of the day was definitely the red eye.

TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureReedsEarly spring fishing is hit or miss on Sugarloaf. Jerkbaits and Spinnerbaits can produce decent numbers but quality doesn't really hit until Spawning season.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonFallStructureOpen Water/BasinWater temp was 65-67. Bass were pushing all the schooling fry into the shallows and feeding pretty aggressively but the bite was pretty slow. We eventually developed a pretty steady top water bit on plopper/prop bait's. Managed to catch a few with the new Hellraizer as well.
