Largemouth Bass
TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksI found a bigger large mouth fishing from shore on a dock. Pretty surprising catch with the average size fish in the lake being 12-13” with this one being about 2.5lbs. Water has come up with the ton of rain we’ve gotten so the bigger bass seem to have come up some.

Crappie
TechniqueCrappie Dock ShootingSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksI was pitching docks from shore and found some nice crappie. There seems to be a decent number of ~12” crappie in the lake which is great for our area. Super fun catching them around docks too.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsThe water was HOT so finesse aka the Neko was the ticket. I found all of my fish around wood lay downs. The bite was much better earlier in the morning due to how hot it was. A lot of bites came on the fall, so mainly just dipping and dunking the old Neko.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureLaydownsI got out late morning and it was HOT (feels like temp of 110), humid, and calm. I knew I wasn’t going to have much luck on moving baits so I stuck a flipping rod with a Texas rig and a jig in my hand and went to work. I found the bigger/more aggressive bites on the Texas rig and jig and then picked off all the remaining fish with the Neko rig. Fun day on the water and forgot all about the heat with the fish biting!

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueStructure JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureDocksFound some fish around docks. The water was pretty dirty. I was throwing a discontinued 3/8oz Bulldog Lures flipping jig in black and blue with the Berkeley chunk on the back. They were pretty tight to the docks with how dirty the water was. Nice to see them up shallow and in predictable spots. Shimano Mastiff line didn’t miss a beat around the janky docks.

TechniqueStructure JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureDocksHit up a private sand pit type lake. The water temps are rising, especially in smaller, shallow bodies of water in the area. I found them on docks with an LS Lures flipping jig in Missouri Craw (Nebraska company). I used the 4” green pumpkin menace as a trailer. The new Shimano line was super abrasion resistant around jagged docks and boat lifts. It was also supple even being 20lb test which helped me have better contact with the jig.

TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLaydownsGot out to this lake for the first time this year. Still pretty cool and it was super windy (20-30mph sustained, 30-40mph gusts), so not the easiest in the kayak. Was still able to find some on laydowns with the old reliable ned rig. Nothing huge, but fun!

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueNed RigsSeasonFallStructureLaydownsI found 15+ bass on hard cover, primarily laydowns. There was also some chunk rock/brick in the water that proved to be productive. Nothing huge, but still a pull on the line. All in all fun day for the middle of the November from the yak!
