Smallmouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructurePointsPractice days 1 and 2 for the B.A.S.S. Kayak Championship. Day 1 I launched from Strayhorn and fished many of the small cuts. Ned rig with a TRD Crawz caught the biggest of the day. No real pattern day 1 as I caught a smallmouth with a ned rig on a deeper point, spots behind boat docks with jigs/plastics/cranks and one largie out on a do-nothing bank with a jig. Day 2 headed to Caney Ridge and struggled. A few small fish on ned rigs and crankbaits.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueDamiki RigSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBaitfishJust completed the Bassmaster Kayak Series Championship on Tenkiller. The bite seemed to be best on windswept points at the mouth of spawning pockets, wind blown banks, and brush piles in 12-17 FOW. Finding the bigger bait was key to finding the bigger fish. I found fish suspending but most were on the bottom and would aggressively come up to hit this bait. Work it with a slow jigging motion and keep it 4-6ft off bottom. (For those without FFS, count down 3-4 seconds before working the bait back.)
