Largemouth BassTechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureFlooded BrushSo this report predominantly covers the period from 27 May to 1 June. The water is going through a lot of change with the rapid rise in water and the rapid fall in water. There are some stable fish offshore setup on humps and brush piles, but it’s selective and if the pressure is up, the bite gets tough. If the buck brush is still flooded there are numerous bite options including buzz baits, craws, worms, and spinnerbaits. Additionally, early you may be able to find an agressive shad spawn. Slower presentations were more productive. Caught largies and smallies both.

CrappieTechniqueCrappie Sniping (Casting/Single Poling)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureBrush PilesEven though it was very windy we were still able to pick off some nice slabs off brush piles between 15’ and 18’ using the ACC Crappie Stix 6’ one piece dock shooters paired with a pflueger president 25 spooled with 6lb Pline. Color of choice on the menu was Bobby garland pearl white

Smallmouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructurePointsCaught most on the early morning bite between 6am and 9am off rocky transition points. They were fairly active and chasing shad out in the deeper water, 10’-20’ very little wind and sunny. Water visibility was about 3 or 4’. Caught a few with jerk baits but needed more water movement for that to be effective, I think so went to the chatterbait and nailed em.

Largemouth BassTechniqueMedium Diving Crankbaits (7'-12')SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureBouldersBass were active early morning around the big boulders/rocks of the coves nearer the dam. The storm wiggle wart and the zman jack hammer out did the jig bite. Mostly in the 4-10’ range. Very windy conditions but it was bright and sunny. The day started out a little chilly but warmed to mid 60’s.

They were holding tight on brush piles at 16-20’ ow. Very windy and hard to hold on the points but dragging tandem goldenheaded hand ties was the ticket.
