Smallmouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureBouldersPick up your favorite drop shot set up and get ready for some smallmouth fun. I tend to use a 6' 9" Dobyns Sierra for most of my drop shooting with a Daiwa Fuego 2500 spinning reel, 15 lb braid to a 6-10 lb leader.Lures range from Arsenal Tactical Minnows to Roboworms in natural colors. Dragging and hopping my lure around deep boulders and rock spines is the key. Plan B includes burning a chartreuse spinnerbait on the high spots of the rock piles or throwing some sort of walking topwater lure.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThis was over Labor Day weekend. I normally try to fish a bit slower and throw jigs and drop shots, I had a bit of a slow time. My buddy however was throwing jackhammers, and MN rigs and definitely out fished me for the weekend. Seemed to want moving baits near the weeks and some rock points.

Largemouth BassTechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureReedsThis outing was for Labor Day Weekend 2025. Weather was calm winds with highs in the mid to upper 70's for the weekend. Water temps were around 69 degrees. Bass seemed to be biting all over, caught some nice smallies and largemouth, but found the pattern for largies. The pattern was that the largies were feeding on small bluegill and cruising the reed edges and inside openings. Caught them pretty good for the weekend and was a blast. On one outing I caught 10 very nice largies in little over 1.5 hours. Every bass I caught this weekend was absolutely putting on the feedbag and were super fat!

WalleyeTechniqueBobbersSeasonSummerStructureHumpsHad a quick (2 hour) walleye trip with the family on June 20th. Caught 3 (19, 22, 23) with three missed. They were quick striking. Your bobber went down in the 1st 30 seconds or it didn't go down at all. Worked the wind blown side of the humps with a 1/16th jig and leech. Kids had fund on our short trip out.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureLily PadsOuting is for June 1st, 2024. Weather was high pressure gusting winds. Air temps in the upper 60s and low 70s. Mostly sunny. Water clarity of over 12 feet as always on this lake. We tried some outside weedlines, drop off etc. Found largemouth and some smallies up shallow with some signs of the spawn, but most fish seemed to still be cruising, with a few fish found on bed. Largies were cruising up shallow, smallies cruising more of the deeper 8 to 12 foot zone. Had action on walking and popping baits up shallow and some action on a jackhammer. Didn't have much luck out deeper trying a drop shot. Overall a good day of fishing. Tried walleye later in the evening with no luck on minnows on a midlake hump.
