Early morning we produced a few good bites using the River2sea Whopper Plopper 90 and as the morning gave way to the sun you could find bass against seawalls and wood structure working a drop shot or a finesse jig (Dirty Jigs) However the bigger ones we found in the pads right now. Even in the sunlight coming across those pads with a Mat Daddy was something they could not resist.

Practiced for a club tournament in stifling heat (110 heat index), but the fish were biting! Caught this 4lb, 6oz beauty along a seawall that ended at the backend of a dock. She bit a Strike King Rage Bug in Falcon Lake Craw, but I caught many more bass throughout the day on a Z-man Jack Hammer with a Little Dipper trailer. The best bites came on falling tide, but this beauty hit as the tide was rising during the late afternoon, when the air and water temps were the hottest.

Caught this 2lb, 8oz bass as the tide was ripping out of a shallow cut off the main Chickahominy River. She nailed a Z-man Jack Hammer and knocked so much slack in the line I thought I missed her. But, I caught up with her and got her in the boat. Air and water temps were considerably cooler than the previous day as a result of thick cloud cover. As a result, the bite was more aggressive overall, but it was a little more difficult finding the truly big fish.
