Striped BassTechniqueSoft JerkbaitsSeasonSummerStructureDamToday I focused on targeting stripers in fast current. Stripers loves to hangout in fast current to feed on bait that is being wash down. The area I was fishing today range from 15ft to 3ft of water. The dam was open so the current was pretty fast. To fish for these stripers, I was drifting flukes along the bottom with the current while also jigging it. With the fast current, I threw a 3/4 oz jig head with a white zoom super fluke. I was throwing this on my st croix mojo surf spinning 9ft with my stradic 4000. I had 20 lb braid with 20 lb mono on it. The trick with this technique is you have to feel your jig bouncing the bottom but not get snag. If you aren’t making bottom contact, you’re less likely to get a bite because these stripers are hiding in the rocks waiting for bait to wash by them.

Fishing as slow as we possibly could. During our practice days color didn’t seem to matter as much as presentation. Keep it in the rocks, slow, and methodical. One of the keys for us was deep water near by for keeper bites.

After a severe thunderstorm moved through, several fresh trees fell into the lake. Several of them had green leaves giving off oxygen. Target these trees with a worm, jig, or creature bait for good largemouth.
