Whalon was ON FIRE today! Any swim jig that mimics a bluegill is what you need to catch some nice fish here. Simply find some weeds by looking for them because the water is so clear and reel the swim jig through them. I was there for 3 hours and ended up catching and releasing a 14.8 lb limit with a 4.8 lb kicker! Water was very clear with a temp of 60 degrees. Wind was 15-20mph.

Rainfall in the prespawn period at Whalon lake can dirty up its naturally crystal clear water, making power fishing techniques work a lot better. I had lots of luck with a jackhammer in submerged grass in 7 ft of water a ways out from the bank.
