I went out in April on my kayak, I was using a Zman Jackhammer in the Brett’s Bluegill color. I was up along the island casting into the weedlines, I pulled out a 3. The wind was really strong that day, and the bass were just making it shallow. Next year try to go natural for a pre-spawn rotation.

Wacky rigs are a great choice for lots of numbers post spawn on Whalon lake. Use a smaller hook and a natural color wacky rig for the best results. Another tip is to use a yellow colored braided line because when fishing in the wind, you can see your line jump easier if a fish takes it as a wacky rig is hard to feel when it’s windy out.
