Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureMatted GrassThis trip was junk fishing 101! I spent the afternoon fishing the grass line that surrounded the entirety of the lake and was the only cover these fish had to relate to. Caught one on a 1/2 oz. Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap in Silverado on a Denali Kovert 7' 2" Medium Heavy Moderate Fast Casting Rod paired with a Quantum Energy S3 with 16 pound Sunline FC Sniper. I also caught another largemouth on a Bill Lewis SB-57 in Sneaky Shad on a Denali Kovert 6' 10" Medium power Moderate action Casting Rod paired with a Quantum Smoke S3 6.1:1 gear ratio reel with 10 pound Sunline FC Sniper. My biggest bass of the day came on a Spro Poppin' Frog in Nasty Shad on a Denali AttaX 7' 4" Heavy Fast Casting Rod paired with a Quantum Smoke S3 8.1:1 gear ratio reel with K9 Fishing 60 pound "8" Strand Dyneema Super Braid. However, the majority of my fish came flipping the inside and outside edges of the grass line. I was using a Denali Attax 7' 4" Heavy Fast Casting Rod with a Quantum Smoke S3 8.1:1 gear ratio reel paired with K9 Fishing 60 pound "8" Strand Dyneema Super Braid and a 25 pound FC Assassin Flourocarbon leader. My go to flipping bait is always a Missile Baits D Bomb with pegged a 1/2 oz. WOO! Tungsten Never Chip Flipping Weight on a 5/0 VMC Heavy Duty Flipping Hook. But rather than using my go-to color of Bruiser Flash, I used Green Pumpkin due to the clarity of the water.
