Flipping jigs was a very good way to catch more quality smallmouth. They were living around the wood on the shore. The fish were sitting behind the wood in breaks from the current.

Used an 1/8 oz pumpkin tube with chartreuse tails for follow up on the smallies. Smallmouth were on shallow laydowns, current seams, and eddies. Largemouth were in backwaters. Also did well for largemouth with a launch series scum frog in lily pads.

Got onto some nice river Smallies in a back eddy. Fish were incredibly fired up and were eating the popper after 1-2 pops, didn't even need to walk it.

Late summer cold front and windy conditions with high skies. Look for rock & weed combinations close to the main river current/channel. Drag Midwest Finesse presentations for hard-fighting bronze beauties. Likely to encounter a bonus walleye too.
