Smallmouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureBouldersUse lighter weight ned rig heads for the slower falling action. Toss into the base of isolated boulders, skip under the limbs of downed trees, and drag off of submerged rock shelves. Prone to snags so use weedless if you prefer

Smallmouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureBouldersCaught this smallmouth by letting the ned rig drift in a current slack behind a boulder after missing a strike on the Squarebill crankbait. This was in the river below the lake. You can choose different colors based on the water clarity that day, but I recommend any of the natural craw or minnow imitation colors for clear water applications like this.
