Water temp was warm enough I was looking for a shad spawn and was not able to find anything. Very confusing times on Rodman water is down about 10ft according to lake master so the water temp is swinging quite a bit with the weather. A 10 degree difference in a week. We caught a few on poppers early morning. Shallow diving jerkbait was the only constant bite I had. Had a few followers in the 2-3lb range on the 6” freestyle. To be honest the fish are scattered with water temps fluctuating from high 50’s to low 70’s within a week. Probably could have done better if I stayed in the canal or went deep in the river section where fish can come up and feed or bail the shallows for a front.

Seemed like fish were post spawn since there was a lot of fry in the Kissimmee grass. No bites in the Kissimmee grass but got all my bites from the reed clumps a few yards away. All my fish came from the bigger clumps of pencil reeds fishing with a flipping jig getting it as far back as I could.

The KVD perfect plastics Ocho especially in that black and blue color was like candy for the bass under the docks. Sun was out and the fish were hiding. No sooner than this hit the water BOOM! Big bites on the way down I'm not sure i even got to hit the bottom with it. This is Trout River An Estuary of The St Johns Here in Jacksonville Florida.

Saw a blow up out of the corner of my eye, followed by a little wake headed towards the bank and into thick grass. Casted directly along the bank just a bit farther than where i saw the blow up. Twitching the rattlin jig on the retrieve. nice and slow. First cast of the evening. He struck it in the middle of a few twitches. This little guy hit HARD so the rattle must have made him mad!

Calm day. Fish were not aggressive. Had to pick the area apart for this one. The Strike King Rattlin Pro Model by Denny Braurer, is one of the best Jigs to work in cover even with murky water. Something about that rattle draws them in after a few twitches. If they are not striking, its because there's no fish. Highly suggest picking one up if you have never used one. Just make sure to down size your trailer to compensate for the rattle.

Find the heaviest cover, in this case...grass and pick it apart. Swimming a jig allows you to cover water quickly and efficiently.

Fishing tournament today out of Lakefront Park, started out around Paradise Island across from Shingle Creek working around the back side with the new Bio bait worm from BASS PRO in Green pumpkin with blue flake. 3rd cast got a 2.95lbs, few casts later got a.72lbs. Moved around on the back side of island but had no luck. Went back to the side across from Shingle Creek and got another small one and noticed that they were breaking the surface chasing minnows, so I threw out towards Shingle Creek and got the big one, 5.6lbs, pictured. Got 3 more and made 2 culls, .72 for a 2.05 and.91 for a 1.14lbs. 5 fish total for today was 12lbs 10 ounces.

Focused on standing timber in close proximity to spawning flats. Utilized a swimming jig to "knock" into the wood structure, thereby causing a strike.
