The Tatula Elite Chris Johnston Ned Rig rod is the rod you want for Neko rigging. It's a soft tip medium action rod. Perfect length, action, and power. Skipping docks and grass edges i worked that neko during the slack tides. There are lots of good neko baits but I lean towards the Daiwa one most of the time. Just gets bit. That VMC neko hook is special as well. They stay pinned!

Fished the Upper Chesapeake Bay out of Havre de Grace, MD and got onto a productive pattern almost immediately. We started fishing during dead low tide and caught fish in a three foot ditch that ran along a lily pad field. Good largemouth had vacated the pads and positioned themselves in the ditch while the water was low. They willingly ate the Jack Hammer when it was brought past them as they sat in the ditch. The bite slowed significantly as the tide began to rise, but once it began to fall again, the bite got hot. At that time, we moved to a steep bank and began catching lots of good largemouth on laydowns using the Jack Hammer. As the tide got lower, the fish positioned themselves off the ends of the laydowns in deeper water, but they still continued to eat the Jack Hammer. In fact, most of the fish inhaled the Jack Hammer. I hadn't experienced such an aggressive bite in a while!

Threw a Megabass jerkbait in the shallow flats across from the Greenbridge Boat Ramp. Caught both largemouth and smallmouth fishing the jerkbait along the shoreline back towards the cove.

Slow Saturday but was able to get a few fish on the Shakey head with Zoom Trick worm fishing near the shore. The key was to fish slow. The biggest fish came on about halfway down the right bank on the 10 Mile Creek side.

Fished our first club tournament of the year and had a slow day. Stayed in the main area of the lake and focused on points mainly. Was able to get 2 fish on a Shakey head with a Zoom Trick worm casting near some standing brush/timber near the kayak launch near the main bridge. Tried several moving baits but was unable to get any takers.

I fan casted from the bank, and the bass hit right as I got close to submerged grass by shore.

Fish were setup on gravel points leading to spawning areas. The fish were incredibly shallow (1-2’) and burning a trap was the best way to catch them. A cold front moving through may push them back some, but the first wave of the spawn is coming soon.

The best area for me this afternoon was up tight to spillway, near the drain and some old pilings. Even after a few warmer days this week, I was not able to get any bites on moving baits. The wacky rig Zinkerz was able to get me a couple before heading home for the day.

Fish in photo came from fishing submerged Hydrilla in the Potomac with a wacky rigged Senko. Highly recommend the VMC crossover rings. Senkos are known to not be very durable, but the crossover rings allow catching multiple fish without having to replace worms. Also, the VMC weedless Neko hooks allow the rig to come through submerged grass well.

Fish in picture came from pitching lay downs on the Potomac. Black blue & purple jig with a June bug trailer seems to work in the Potomac regardless of water clarity.

Dropshot, wacky, and freerig all produced on grass flats. Moving baits were not productive for me.

Chatterbait got the bites but when it slowed down, swim jigs and wacky rigs produced fish.

Rainy and overcast, I expected a moving bait bite, but was unable to generate anything on spinnerbait, crank bait, or buzz bait. Got one hit on a wacky rig and caught one 3# on drop shot, both near dock pilings. Others I talked to had similar results.
