Largemouth BassTechniqueMedium Diving Crankbaits (7'-12')SeasonFallStructureLaydownsThe fall transition was in effect, with fish scattered and junk fishing was the game of the day. We found most fishing in higher oxygen areas mid-lake, where there was still some stain in the water. The morning bite was slower-moving top waters, then we found bass pitching into structure. Later in the afternoon, fish were on points and were targeted with minnows, crank baits, and swim baits.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft JerkbaitsSeasonSummerStructureOpen Water/BasinWater was stained to muddy and averaged 78-80 degrees. Found most fish in shallow pockets with shad. Full moon and clear skies all night before made daylight fishing tough. Weightless Fluke fished in a cold water pattern with fairly long pauses between mild twitches drew the most strikes. They did not react to an aggressive or fast action that you would normally use in hot summer conditions. Topwater was not working -- they wanted something sub-surface.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBlade BaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBrush PilesWell wasn’t much happening. This little guy hit a blade bait and not another bite after about 4 hours. One bite and one in the yak. Weather was nice for the last two days but still dealing with cold nights. Some near freezing still. Hoping the next few weeks get better. Water temp was around 54 degrees. Getting there slowly but surely.

Largemouth BassTechniqueMedium Diving Crankbaits (7'-12')SeasonSummerStructureFlooded BrushThey are a little hard to find but they will bite when you run by them with a medium depth crank bait. They also are biting on swim baits. I had luck with the xzone swammer 3.5 inch on a dirty jigs jig head. Lots of smaller fish. I did catch 3-4 that were the size of this one but most were dinks.

Largemouth BassTechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRiver ChannelsMost fish were caught on channel swings leading into spawning areas fishing 12 to 22 feet of water. Bite was subtle after a major cold front pushed through. Water temps were 52 to 55 degrees in areas we fished. We also caught a couple fish on a Rapala DT-10 Green Gizzard Shad crank bait.
