TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureMatted GrassOuting was for 6/4/2025. Weather was warm and calm with clouds slowly coming in. Water was around 70, but can't recall looking at it. First Wednesday Greenhorn Tournament of the season started out with a bang! Got 2nd place with a very small bag, on a very tough to catch large fish lake. Caught quite a few fish under 12 inches, and then once we had our limit had lots of small upgrades to get the couple skinny 13 inchers out of our 5 fish limit. In the end finished with 8.54lbs for the night. The winner had 9.09 and big bass by a wide margin of 4.78lbs. Our big bass was only 2.01lbs by comparison. Overall we shallow junk fished all night, some dock fish, some frog fish, some random fish between docks.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationCaught LOTS of 12-15" largemouth in 7-10' wdater in the southeast bay. They went more shallow into the grass/reeds when the sun came out, and I had luck casting at the edges. I heard the bass here were finicky, and that held true in my first visit. Had several that refused to commit, and I set lots of hooks into absolutely nothing. There's LOTS of bass to be had, but the big ones seem to be few and far between.

Panfish / Bluegill
TechniqueVertical Jigging Shallow (0-9')SeasonSummerStructureLily PadsDropped anchor on the pontoon near some pads. After a bit some huge bluegill moved into the shade of the pontoon. They are experts in taking wax worms off hooks. Key to get hooked up was to thread the wax worm on a wide gap ice jig and watch the bite and set the hook visually vs. Waiting for the bobber.
