Water had 3-4 foot visibility and was about 54 degrees. Caught fish on a variety of baits but a Frittside and a Outkast swimjig got the better bites. Fished 6-8’ of water around laydowns.

Caught all my fish off wood. Water was somewhat cloudy and that’s where I got most of my bites opposed to the clean water. I was pitching a homemade 1/2 ounce jig similar to the Matt Herrera flipping jig in a blue craw color and a Bojangles Z-Daddy trailer in blue craw. I’ve been using the new Mastiff flourocarbon from Shimano now for a few weeks and this trip I really put it through its paces. I was fishing in and around some fairly heavy laydowns. I did not notice any nicks or abrasions and only had to retire once out of habit. Normally in this situation I would be using at least 20 pound test. I however did not feel under powered with the 18 Mastiff.
