I went out to the lake on Wednesday, November 20th with my buddy Kevin to try and get on some big Bois D'Arc fall bass in the forest. It was bright and sunny all day, with a strong northeast wind at 15 mph and gusting up to 25 mph for the majority of the day until the evening when it eventually completely laid down. The water temperature on the lake was 61 degrees lakewide and the water clarity was at about 1.5 - 2 feet of visibility with a slight green hue to it. We fished from noon to 5 PM, and concentrated our efforts way back in the forest on the west side of the lake, specifically targeting areas where creek channels ran through the timber. We would sit our boat in the channels and then fish all the timber and flooded brush on the edges of the channel in 2-6 feet of water, pitching a jig and texas rig as well as throwing a swim jig and chatterbait. The jig and texas rig got more bites, but the moving baits, especially the swim jig, caught the majority of our bigger fish. We caught 10 fish total, and our best 5 for the day went right at 17 pounds, anchored by a 5 pound even fish I caught on the swim jig (pictured with the report). The fall bite on Bois D'Arc right now is quite tough, as there is a lot of dead water on the lake, but if you can bushwack your way into the timber and find out where the creek channels snake through it, the fish are there and they are aggressive! Thank you all for reading my report and good luck on your next trip out!

I fished the lake with my buddy Kevin on July 12th, from about 8 AM to about 5 PM, and for the first several hours, it was a grind, with only 1 bite. However, after that, we were able to find the bass dropshotting the pilings on the bridge and were able to catch 10 or 12 pretty quickly in the last little bit of the day, with our best 5 being somewhere around the 13 or 14 pound mark and catching several good 3+ pound fish. It was sunny and hot, with outside temperatures being almost 100 degrees and water temperatures in the high 80's. The water clarity ranged from 1 to 1.5 feet of visibility lakewide, and we caught our fish anywhere from 12-20 feet deep. The bite on Bois D'Arc is tough right now, but they are still there and still need to eat! Get out there and get after it!
