TechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSummerStructureRip RapI launched at New Hope and spent most of my time on the N Mokelumne. The crankbait bite was a blast. Wish I had a picture of the 5+ pounder that got away....but I got her close enough before she escaped to know it would have been my biggest of the year...so far. (Clear Lake is on the near horizon for me....) Also had a nice top water blow up on the Vega Frog from 6th Sense. Love that Frogville pattern.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsWent fishing after a warm day in northern California and caught this fat girl. The frog I used has been discontinued but they would call it tweety bird. The nrx+ even meant to be used for jig had good action for popping a frog above the vegetation and the hook set was easy.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSummerStructureFlooded BrushThere is a great topwater evening bite in the CA Delta right now. The last hour of sunlight has been producing numbers of largemouth bass on topwater lures. The KVD Splash in all black caught numerous fish in the 1-2.5lb range. The bass are in full feeding mode and holding tight to weed banks and shade pockets.

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThe Delta was a tough bit in the extreme heat of late summer, though I had success in pre-fishing and during the tournament despite the extreme weather. Bass were in deep pockets, deep cover and along current. I had success with 3 different baits: Small Swimbaits, Spinnerbaits and Large worms. I had decent success in pre-fishing with small swimbaits worked along edges and dropping down into deeper channels and pockets. I also found fish by skipping that swimbait up into docks. Large worms, texas rigged, played along current edges of weed lines also was successful when the bite was particularly finicky. I also had great success in pre-fishing with the bassman spinner baits, tossed along hard structure such as walls, docks and laydowns. I was able to get a swim bait bite by tossing up into covered areas that were hard to reach, or playing along weed edges and allowing the bait to fall into deeper pockets or deeper current. Good luck!
