This is a little gem of a lake, but is absolutely devastated by recreational boaters on the weekends or even weekdays during the Summer. Between the amount of docks and laydowns on this lake you can have a field day targeting only those styles of structure and absolutely crush largemouth all day long - and you will find some giants along with way. If you stay off-shore on the humps, points or the main road bed, you will grab some really healthy smallmouth.

This is a great time time catch these tasty eating crappies before they move back into the deep for ice fishing. Right now, look for access on North shore of lake and either wade, kayak or boat for them. Look for submerged vegetations, as that's where they'll be hiding. With the vegetation weathering down from the cooler water temps, these crappies will try to find the best cover as they can and will school in those areas until they head back to the deep for winter. Use a bobber and a small jig head tipped with a crappie minnow, or small twister tail grub and cast out and slowly retrieve back in. This will get the crappies aggressively to strike your bait. Another option if boober fishing is not your cup of tea, is to use small rapala jerk baits or similar small jerk type baits and cast as far as you can and slowly retrieve with jerks in between. Vary your jerks, to make it seem like the jerk bait is retreating or injured. Good luck out there!

I spent the late afternoon through the evening on the water on 10/07. Water temps are slowly starting to cool down. I started flipping docks and lay downs with a jig but had little success. I then switched to throwing a 3/8ths oz. Booyah Willow and Colorado blade hybrid spinner bait in white (no trailer) and caught approximately 16 fish for the day. Most were around the 2lb range, short in length but fat. Most of the fish were concentrated around rocky shorelines.

Bass were scattered, but size was good. Caught bass on shallow and offshore rocks. As well as docks. Jigs were best, but caught one giant on a bladed jig on shallow rocks.

Started the night trying big baits, glide baits & Swimbaits, caught one small Tiger Musky. Peaked up shallow late to see a large amount of bass in the shallows both cruising & on beds. Around weed clumps and pieces of wood in the shallows. Wacky rigs and lightly weighted soft plastics were best. Water temps in the low 70s

1/16oz northland crappie king jig with freedom baitz small plastics were on fire. Color didn't seem to matter. We kept the jig about 2-3ft down from the bobber and every cast was a fish.
