TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesWhile flipping bushes with this particular jig setup, I literally watched this 4+lb largemouth come out of the cover and inhale the lure. The part that captivated my mind was this size bass was laying shallow with the water temps at 87 degrees. Don’t be afraid to slow down and go shallow.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationI've had amazing luck with the Heddon Super Spook Jr. in the Bone color recently. Walked over the top of submerged grass and along grass edges with a sporadic walk and pause method. It WORKS..and if it's not in your tackle box, it needs to be. Best of luck friends!

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonFallStructureBouldersFishing has been slow during the early fall on Lake Cherokee, however quality 3+ pound bites are still fairly common. Try targeting tapering rock points with small swimbaits and jerkbaits in order to call up smallmouth from the rocks. Bluff walls during the heat of the day can also generate quality bites this time of year. As the water cools, follow the baitfish to the backs of pockets and use rattletraps, swimbaits, and jerkbaits to target the feeding fish chasing the abundant amount of shad that Lake Cherokee supports this time of year. Topwaters such as whopper ploppers and spooks can also be huge producers this time of year when fish are feeding up for the winter months.
