TechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructurePointsFish are moving into pre-summer pattern but are still on points and humps. The 90 boat field as a whole, struggled. There are still fish chasing herring, but it's hit and miss and I think the warm up has finally done enough to start moving the fish off. I caught fish on a crankbait, a fluke, and a spook, in that order.

TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSummerStructurePointsPoints and patience. Lots of twitching and pausing. Lots of follows. Stick with it, and they’ll eat. Water has cooled a little bit, morning bite is crucial to jump on them, then patiently work on upgrades.

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesI looked for brush where I could see fish in the tops of piles, then I'd toss the small swimbait over the tops, and slowly reel it over the tops. If I didn't get a bite within 10 casts, I'd move to a new pile.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassFished the shore line grass, looking for areas with a little deeper water in front. Mainly used zoom horny toad had decent luck, no giants but decent numbers and one 5 lbs. All in all good time just very hot.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureRock PileWater temps ranged from 87-89 degrees in the creeks that fed the main lake. I was targeting creek channel swings with larger rock mixed with laydowns late in the day. The two creeks I ran had the thermocline about 12-15 deep, so I didn't worry about fishing past that depth in the creeks. Once I got a bite on the zoom trick worm, I would slow down to follow up with the Buckeye lures mop jig with a zoom chunk trailer for a bigger bite.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsI saw water temps around 79-83 degrees in the backs of creeks targeting remaining bluegill bed pockets. Most of the bluegill spawn has wrapped up, but there are still big largemouth hanging around and ready to eat. The bite has been a lot more active early in the morning, but they pull up really tight to cover as the sun gets up.
