Walleye
TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationWent out after some walleyes today and caught a few, all nice ones though. Was throwing jerkbaits in the weeds. Fish were spread out and we just covered water. TONS of pike mixed in. It was almost unbearable. Long pause mid way through the retrieve was key.

TechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonSummerStructureReedsFish the reed islands that have a drop off from 2 to 3 feet to over 20 feet deep. Fish were coming up off the ledge hitting top water baits. Lots of 2 to 4 pound fish. Buzz Baits, Spooks and Whopper Ploppers all fired up the fish.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureLily PadsLots and lots of shallow fish! Stable overcast conditions allowed for bigger fish to cruise the shallows in search of food. Focus on emergent vegetation anywhere from 1-8 feet of water. Lilipads and reeds provide a great place to start, mats of dying curlyleaf are also a great place to look. Focus on irregularities in these places - little pockets, points, clumps, etc. Don't be afraid to work your frog slowly around these high percentage areas. Both popping and walking frogs worked well. Additionally there were some schools forming out deep, but the bigger fish had not pulled all the way out into those areas yet.

TechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureReedsFished all day using buzzbaits and ribbon tail Berkeley Baits. Used the G Juice in the live well and the fish were in excellent shape at the end of the day. Water was 74-77 degrees and the G juice was a definite need.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureLily PadsThe topwater bite started slow on other faster moving toads, so switched to the Goat Toadz which floats so could be retrieved slowly without sinking. It stayed longer in the strike zone around emerging pads long enough to get absolutely crushed!

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureHumpsFlat water to start slow fishing at first. Had to work Texas rig from swallow off the edge of the hump/ledge. Fish were held right to the weed line in 7-12 feet and slow nibble bite almost had to dead stick to grab them.

TechniqueGrass JigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksSkipping Jigs under docks and alongside cover brought the most fish. Very windy day and was challenging to stay on off shore structure. Bite was very light and hand to slowly put tension on a slack line to feel for a bite.
