Crappies were in the muddy bays to feed up along the reeds. Would pitch into 4 feet of water with my bobber set at only 12 inches below surface.

Water temp in August can get into the high 70's. Finding the right vegetation with your favorite Texas rig is key. Pads and foil both will produce fish. A dropshot or finesse rig was also very productive on the edges of the weeds lines. Although not typically bigger ones bass can be caught under deeper docks

Today I worked shallow water (1-3ft) with grass clumps and and submerged lily pads looking for largemouth bass. The bait of choice today was a wacky rigged Yum watermelon green senko.

Had a High School fishing tournament out here this past weekend and took 14th, out of about 57 boats, our best bite was in 8-10 feet of water where the vegetation was starting to grow, the only bait we could get the fish to eat was a jig worm, later in the day we went shallow to catch a kicker and it worked, as we caught our best fish of the day with an hour remaining with a 13 fishing trash panda, the fish were in all stages of the spawn, we caught some pre-spawners and post spawners, and there were also a lot of fish spawning
