Due to the cold water temperatures, the fish have slowed down their metabolism and are not as active as they would be during the warmer months. This means that anglers will have to work harder to locate and entice the fish to bite. One strategy for catching lethargic fish is to slow down your presentation and use natural-looking baits. Fishing with hard and soft plastics or live bait, such as worms or minnows, can be effective in catching the fish's attention. Additionally, fishing in deeper waters where the water temperature is warmer can also increase your chances of catching fish. Another approach is to focus on structure such as logs, rock piles, and drop-offs where the fish may be holding up. These areas can provide a source of warmth and food for the fish, making them more likely to be active. In summary, bass fishing in the winter can be challenging. Anglers will need to use a slower presentation and focus on natural-looking baits, deeper waters, and structure in order to increase their chances of success.

Largemouth BassTechniqueLive Bait RigsSeasonWinterStructureBaitfishFishing for large mouth bass in East Lake Toho during the winter season can be a great opportunity for anglers. During this time of year, large mouth bass tend to move into deeper areas of the lake. One strategy for catching them from the bank is to focus on the deeper drop-offs and ledges, where the bass are likely to be holding. Live minnows or jigs can be effective in these areas. Another technique is to target the areas where the creek channels and ledges come close to the bank, as well as along rocky shorelines, where large mouth bass can be found hiding among the rocks and ledges. A variety of lures such as spinnerbaits or crankbaits can be used in these areas. It's worth noting that fishing pressure is generally lower during the winter, which can make it a great time to catch some trophy-size largemouth bass. Overall, bank fishing for large mouth bass in East Lake Toho during the winter season can be challenging, but with the right strategy and equipment, it can also be very rewarding. It's important to locate the deeper waters and structure around the lake where the bass are likely to be holding during this time of the year.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureReedsWent left out of Lakefront Park and fished along the reed edges and pepper grass. Caught 3 total in a couple of hours, 2 in the reeds as soon as it hit the water and the other from out of the grass. They seemed like they were ready to move on up to spawn but were all caught on the lake side of the reeds and got no bites from inside the reeds.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureReedsWent out of Lakefront Park to the left and fished around the reeds on the lake side and got a couple, then moved inside the reeds and got 3 more, 1.43lbs smallest to 2.39lbs pictured. Fish seemed to be on the beds, didn't see any or evidence of that, but the bite would be taken and moved. I missed about 20 and threw into the same area as many as 7 times before hooking up. Texas rigged the Mayor on a weighted ewg hook.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationHad to go out of Chisholm Park, Lakefront was closed, starting on the right just outside the canal from the ramp and got 2 on a Strike King Ocho worm 6.5 inch in Black with Blue flake from the reeds and pepper grass. Fished it until the pepper grass was no more and ran over to the canal leading to AJ Lake. Water was flowing pretty good towards Fells Cove, didn't get anything until I got to the bridge. Started on the right side between the rocks and the pilings, using a Ocho 5 inch Honey Candy color. Caught the biggest of the day, 3.19lbs pictured, and a couple others on the right before moving over to the left side where I had a couple pull drag more than the 3lber did that got off, but did get a couple more and even one from the middle of the bridge. Caught 6 total around the bridge in about 20 minutes before moving on towards AJ Lake but didn't get any in the boat. Total caught today 8, lost a few and missed a bunch.
