Launching out of Shawnee Bend near the dam, we were met with a lake 10 feet high—which meant one thing: flipping flooded bushes. We focused on shallow, flooded cover all day and caught plenty of fish, though many were short. Running up the Pomme de Terre arm, we flipped Motion Fishing Tungsten Tank jigs and Texas-rigged brush hogs. My partner Greg and I found the fish deep in the middle of the bushes. The key was targeting steeper banks where the cover was more manageable. When we found the right set, we’d get flurries of 3–5 bites in a row. The fish were spread out—from the backs of creeks to main lake points—and they’ll remain that way through the post-spawn period. If you’re heading to Truman Lake, it’s prime flipping season. Get those flipping sticks ready with a half-ounce brush hog or a Tungsten Tank jig. It’s one of my favorite ways to catch bass! And don’t forget—stock up at Omnia with code LUKE10 to save 10%.

Truman Lake Tournament Report: Solo Series Top 100 Over the past couple of weekends on Truman Lake, conditions were quite a ride. The lake jumped nearly five feet in just three days, making the bite tough. I skipped practice, but a win the prior weekend on a spinnerbait gave me confidence. I planned to hunt a similar pattern. The first morning was slow—no bites before 10 a.m. So, I made a critical area change toward the Osage Arm, near the mouth of the Pomme. That move paid off. I started catching small Kentucky bass along the flooded bushes—right at their edges. By 11:30, a four-pounder and a three-pounder on consecutive casts told me the fish were moving in. I stayed locked in. The fish weren’t everywhere. I found them concentrated in just a couple of creeks. They had slid back from main lake points—now three-quarters to fully into the pockets. Toward the end of the day, I even got a topwater fish on a Motion Fishing Soundcheck Buzzbait, but the MVP was a three-quarter-ounce double Colorado Motion Fishing Spinnerbait. Heads up: They’re dropping 4/8/26 at 4:30 PM—don’t miss that. I’ll be sharing weekly reports like this, from tournaments to fun trips. Follow along, and remember, code LUKE10 at Omnia Fishing saves you 10%—whether on tackle or a year of Pro.

My buddy Greg and I decided to jump into a USA Bassin tournament on Truman Lake Saturday and you could say we had an eventful day. We started our day by me catch our biggest fish and big fish of the tournament a 7.52lb bass on a Motion Fishing Spinnerbait. I was actually excited because it rarely seems that I start a tournament day catching a good on like that. We preceded to fish for 3 hours without another bite, it was a cold front day and I knew the fish were going to be a big slugish and around 11:30 they started to turn on. I caught a 3 pounder and 4 pounder almost back to back and then we caught fish steadily all afternoon. The key was adjusting to the spring conditions and fishing the wind. We didn’t have a spot just an area of the lake ( I’ll tell yall the areas Monday after the solo top 100) and the fish seemed to be active and right up on the bank. The key baits to our day were a Motion Fishing Spinnerbait and a motion jig fished down the bank. I’d like to key and area in for yall but I caught fish from the main lake points all the way in the back so they are definitely scattered right now. Covering water efficiently is the name of the game when they are like this. We ended up getting the win with 21.08lbs of bass and prolly culled through 10 or 12 keepers. Spring conditions can change fast a great way to keep up with them is by surfing Omnia Pro and getting the lay of the land before you get to the lake.
