We found smallmouth in deep slow water which is where you would expect them this time of year but the bigger ones were still in the faster moving water plus above and below the shoals.

Actually we used a Hayabusa 3/0 screw lock hook. Our Custom painted shallow running crankbaits in Morning Dawn and the Keitechs were the baits of the day! 42 total between 3 of us with my buddy getting his PB 19.5" chunk of a smallmouth! It was 25 degrees when we hit the river but warmed ito the mid 60's in the afternoon!

Great day for topwater fishing. No Wind, foggy morning. Water was crystal clear. Long casts with a top water spook, walking the dog, produced some great smallmouth bass action.

Flow at 2300cfs. 60 smallies between 2 of us on custom painted dreamsmasher crank baits from E&H Lures, Watauga, Tennessee. Biggest was 20.75” on a hunt house rat. Numerous smallies in the 15-17” size range.

Water temps have dropped 8 degrees in 10 days. The fish haven't moved out of the shoal areas into the deeperslower moving pools as of yet.Ned Rigs and shallow cranks got it done for us.
