Smallmouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBrush PilesI took two clients out on a guide trip yesterday. The ice went out the previous night and even still had slush on the lake. Fish were holding around cribs and brush piles. They wanted a really slow presentation as you could feel some of the fish come peck the bait before eating.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueTubesSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRock PileFish were spread out in a range of depths. Fish were caught from 8-35 FOW. If you caught fish there would be a wad of fish allowing you to cycle through a few baits to get a couple extra bites.

Largemouth BassTechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationTough few days at LCO. It was blowing 25-30mph from the south on the main lake during all 3 days so we mainly were limited to areas out of the wind. Most of the fish caught were found on deeper grass outside of shallower areas. Lost a good one on the deep crank but otherwise everything else was under 2lbs. Some smallmouth were found on rocky flats in the afternoon as the water warmed. Not sure when the lake turned over and if that had an effect but either way it was grindy.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSummerStructurePointsSmallies we're VERY shallow on rocky points. Just look for the hazzard buoys on the lake! They could be caught making long casts with a walking topwater. They really were hitting the SB 105 hard and the hookups were great.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFinished a tourney on LCO 7/9 ended up taking 1st the smallmouth hadn’t put on the post spawn weight yet so we fished smallie the first 2 hours then largemouth most of the day. Smallies were cruising shallow rock flats/spines topwater/flukes. The largies in standing cabbage with milfoil clumps mixed in. However the largies weren’t relating to the milfoil during the tournament more cruising in the cabbage
