TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureLedgesWe stayed around south bass. Fishing around 20-26 feet was key for us for the bigger fish at least. Caught on both drop shot and ned rigs. Mostly drop shot with 3/8 oz weight.

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureBouldersEnded up going out that day to pre-fish for the final club points tournament for the year on the upper Niagara River. I knew I needed to somehow manufacture 20lbs on tournament day so I went to some spots with history where I know they like to congregate come approaching a fall pattern. While idling around, I noticed a lot of emerald shiners swimming around and the brown back flatworm matched them perfectly. I was working the depths between 2-10 feet deep sight casting at schools of "brown-fin tuna" as the boys at the Serious Angler Podcast call them and picking them off one by one. I saw a few absolute megas that day that I wanted to end up leaving alone for tournament day. Ended up seeing this one pictured cruising alone in the shallows to get a rough gauge on sizing for which ones to target and this beauty weighed right in at 4lbs.
