I decided to go flipping. Lake Erling is a prime place to do this in southern Arkansas and I targeted cypress trees, bushes, and docks to pitch and flip a Texas rig and a jig. I caught 1 fish on a swim jig, and 2 on a custom handtied Herkie Jig. The rest came off a beaver bait from JaBoom Bait Company. Check them out on Facebook and Instagram. Best 5 went for about 10lbs but there were plenty of fish shallow and in cover that I caught. Friend I was with lost a 5-6lber on a neko rig and another 2lber or so. The fish were biting at the end of the fall with a pressure bite. I was mainly in the lower to mid lake area. With natural and junebug color variations. I thought a morning frog bite would happened but other than seeing one bluegill get launched out of the water I did not see any other topwater activity. Front moving in seemed to have the fish pushed down into cover.
