Largemouth BassTechniqueShakey HeadsSeasonWinterStructureDocksLake Marion is fishing super tough. Seems the bite is getting better each week. I was able to catch a number of fish, but most were non keeper bass. Shakey head is the staple when the bite is tough. Also caught a few fish on the fluke and super spook when a fish would bust on top. Fishing around bait is key to getting bit. Fished most of the day above I-95 around trees. Spent the last 2 hours fishing Taw Caw creek. Caught the fish below doing the same thing on (10/15/22). It’s a great time to get on the lake and catch numbers of fish!

Largemouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonFallStructureBrush PilesWith the days getting shorter and the nights getting cooler, the bite on Santee Cooper is just heating up! The fish are starting to make there way to the back of the pockets and creeks and the best places to run into them is fishing secondary points and flats in large creeks with brush piles, man made fish attractors, with fast reaction baits and then following up with a slower presentation like a tokyo rig or a drop shot. You may have to cover a lot of water to find them, but once you stumble across the fish you'll have an absolute blast!

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonFallStructureStumpsFlipping trees, and stumps with a texas rigged creature bait was most effective for me. Switching weight sizes throughout the day as I rotated areas also helped.

Largemouth BassTechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonFallStructureLaydownsI caught them cranking shallow on laydowns. If you find fallin deep trees next to cypress trees you can do very well. Fish are on the deep trees if you can find them.

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonFallStructureStumpsA wacky rigged worm worked well around cypress trees. I also caught a few on docks using a 1/8oz shackey head paired with a green pumpkin trick worm.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonWinterStructureStanding TimberMy partner and I caught fish on deep trees but a lot of smaller ones. Bigger ones were spread out and hard to find. If you fish Marion I recommend fishing the river or swamp. The trees are deep and next to deep water.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonWinterStructureBrush PilesDad and I crushed them on a jerkbait in brush and ditches. If you utilize your electronics you can find fish everywhere. The fish at that time were spend out in groups but when we found them we would catch 2 or 3. I recommend using side-scan to find holes or brush followed by livescoping with a jerkbait. Good luck!!!
